greta included many layers into this movie, and while watching her interviews, you realise how emotional and fantastic it is. it was designed to be realistic, and show the heartbreak at the end of childhood, and how the march sisters move on. Greta gerwig's little women was not designed to be warm and cozy. I am so happy this exists! As the author hoped, I had a "jolly" time watching. Overall, this movie pays homage to the book, to the women of that day, and to the women of now. These characters are as real as we perceive them to be. I think she just wanted to remind women that, no matter the decade, feelings of inadequacy, loneliness, anger, and loss exist. She wasn't trying to do better or worse than the other adaption. Still, I believe Gerwig made this as a love letter for the young women of today. People may wonder why this movie was needed. Seeing Jo watch the process made my heart heavy in the best way. I also loved the inclusion of Jo's line that writing doesn't give importance, it reflects it. The ending montage.as a writer, I love that Greta decided to show the book Little Women being made. Most importantly, I rooted for Laurie and Amy! I think they are more similar than him and Jo at times. I really liked the cheeky critique of Jo marrying at the end of the novel. The moments we're taken out of the plot and into Jo's head were awesome. The transition from past to present felt a little awkward at first. And Fredrick's actor was pretty too lmao. Even the cooler scenes were like being inside on a winter day.

I'll say that Laura is a good actor, but I think her character could have been fleshed out. He made the character very idealistic and kind. He lacked a little of the passion of the previous one, but he made up for it. To be honest, I rarely noticed she wasn't the age of the character. I adore how they didn't need a younger actress. She's just a girl who wanted pretty things and to paint. I didn't hate her but I didn't love her character before. She thought she couldn't be loved back, too.įlorence Pugh was a-mazing as Amy. Because of that, he could see her as more than a woman to love. If she loved someone enough, she'd want to be tied to them forever. She didn't see marriage as an economic prospect, or even a choice. Including, I'll say, her deciding to marry. You see her go through growth that you don't notice til the end.

I love Winona Ryder's interpretation, but I like this one better. Wanting to be loved but not wanting to give it back. It's not a Christmas movie, but it has the vibe of it.
